In our 7th year of trading we are an established

boat fitting company with an enviable pedigree

It all started in September 2000 when we formed Crown Narrowboats Ltd. Having a track record of creating living and working environments, on time and on budget, in the construction industry we decided, after much research, to expand our horizons to Narrowboat building, being able to offer the same quality and professionalism to our Inland Waterway customers that has been enjoyed by their land based counterparts for over 20 years.

January 2001 saw the 1st G & J Reeves shell arriving at our Swinton Premises, this bare shell destined to become our Debut Monarch Class boat.

The boat was built to our own design as a "spec boat" and offered for sale at Crick show 2001. Approximately 1000 people viewed the boat on the bank holiday weekend. Nervously we were hoping to sell the boat, trade know-alls were telling us we would never realise our asking price as an unknown builder of £1000 per foot. Quality shows through and Nick & Jan who phoned the day after the show to purchase it got a bargain....... and delighted as we know they were at the time, we are sure they are even happier now owning a Crown Narrowboat, when just 2 short years later at Beale Park I.W.A. Festival we were awarded the Lionel Munk Trophy for best professional fit out.

The esteem and recognition that such an award brings, coupled with reviews in the main magazines and their positive reports means we are now recognised as the quality and innovative boat builders we set out to be.

Our real measure of success is our satisfied customers and, through our owners club, prospective purchasers can get 1st hand reviews ( warts and all ) from the people who own our boats.
